This Webinar co-organized by Musawah, Femena and Rawadari focused on analyzing the women’s rights situation from an Islamic perspective. The speakers highlighted the current women’s rights situation in Afghanistan, challenged the Taliban’s policies and action based on Islam, drew examples from the history of Islam and put forward calls to action to the Islamic world on stopping the Taliban’s abuse of Islam and mistreatment of women. The Webinar was moderated by prominent Afghan poet, writer and women’s rights activist, Shafiqa Khapwak and the speakers were Nazifa Jalali, Religious Scholar and Writer, Dr. Ziba Mir-Hosseini, Scholar of Islamic Law and Dr Mustapha Sheikh, Associate Professor of Islamic Thought at UNiversity of Leeds.
